OneWorld Classrooms is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Boston, MA. Our mission is to build bridges between local and international K-12 classrooms through technology and the arts. In both school and OST settings, we aim to promote global education, foster cross-cultural awareness and cultivate local and global citizenship. We offer curriculum-based FREE online travel resources and a variety of opportunities for K-12 classrooms to interact with overseas partners.
In school settings, OneWorld Classrooms’ programs reinforce the curriculum and provide authentic and dynamic student-to-student learning experiences. In after-school settings, especially in the Greater Boston metropolitan area, OneWorld Classrooms programs also help students to define and value their own place in the world as they reach out and make positive, community-building connections with their global peers.
To fulfill our mission, OneWorld Classrooms taps the connective powers of the arts and technology, which allow partners to share information across language, economic, cultural and geographic divides.
OneWorld Classrooms began in 1999 as the Creative Connections Project, which extended Arts in Education programming to include partnerships between New York and Amazon Rain Forest classrooms. Since then, we have involved over 9,400 classrooms from all around the world. In the fall of 2009, OneWorld Classrooms became a nonprofit organization. In our new capacity, we look forward to replicating our programs and broadening our educational impact as we continue to fulfill our primary mission: to build cross-cultural understanding and foster global citizenship.
